At YTL, we are continuously looking to improve and further develop Health and Safety throughout the organisation. With this in mind, we are pleased to offer a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated and dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to join our Health and Safety team at our Bristol based construction project.
As part of this exciting and challenging role, you will see our new projects from concept design through to detailed design, into construction, and delivery to the end user.

What you'll do
As the Health and Safety Advisor on site, you will act as a role model for Health and Safety, driving a strong ‘speak up' and safety culture and leading for continued performance improvement.
In this position, you will be working directly with the Senior Management team at our Bristol facility, providing guidance and support at all levels of management, ensuring we continually look to identify opportunities for improvement, and proactive interventions and share best practice across the wider YTL Group of business.
Working within the Bristol facility, your responsibilities will include:
- conducting audits and inspections, identifying trends, and ensuring Health and Safety compliance
- providing support and guidance to the Site Management team and employees on all matters relating to Health and Safety on-site
- completing the investigation of incidents and near miss events to ensure appropriate remedial action is taken and lessons are learned and communicated
- achieving targets and KPIs
- identifying trends and putting forward improvement ideas
- developing and presenting reports to the Senior Management teams
- working collaboratively with other members of the Health and Safety team to ensure policies and procedures are aligned
- supporting, monitoring, and maintaining the delivery of safe working practices in line with company policy and procedures
- working closely with the Senior Health and Safety Advisor and Site Management teams including our contractors.
What you'll need
We are looking for a charismatic leader who is able to lead, mentor, and develop the workforce to achieve continual improvement. You will be an enthusiastic individual with a can-do attitude who can promote a positive Health and Safety culture.
You will have excellent communication skills and will be confident liaising with colleagues across all levels of the business. You need to be approachable and overall a great team player.
In addition, we are looking for:
- educated to a Health and Safety standard (NEBOSH Diploma or similar)
- chartered member of the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
- Health and Safety experience gained within civil engineering/ MEICA and the Process Safety environment (preferable)
- previous experience of working within a team environment
- experience in developing systems to support cultural development
- the ability to undertake statistical analysis, develop trends, and recommend improvement strategies
- hazard identification and risk mitigation processes
- first-hand knowledge of ISO45001 management systems (preferable)
- the ability to understand complex tasks and challenge decision making and working methods in a constructive manner
- a comprehensive understanding of current Health and Safety legislation
- the ability to work with Senior Management to produce and present informative and accurate reports
- the ability to review and develop safe systems of work.
Due to the remote nature of the role, the successful candidate will need to hold a full clean UK driving licence.
