Are you technically minded with a practical approach to solving problems? Do you have an interest or experience in water quality and environmental monitoring? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to help deliver the environmental and water quality monitoring aspects of our AMP 8 investigations.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team of technicians to support the delivery of Wessex Water's environmental investigations by assisting with environmental and water quality monitoring and maintaining equipment.
The expectation is for this role to be based at our Corfe Mullen office in Dorset and involves travel across our region to undertake in-field monitoring. You will be predominantly field-based three to four days per week and in the office one to two days per week.
This is a 15-month fixed-term contract.
What you'll do
You will:
- assist with the design and delivery of environmental monitoring for the company's environmental investigations
- undertake in-field monitoring such as water quality sampling, river flow and groundwater level monitoring, and ecological monitoring
- assist with sourcing, maintaining and deploying monitoring equipment
- perform quality assurance and analysis of existing data and data collected in the field, and reporting results to other team members
- help to communicate complex science and monitoring approaches to multiple audiences
- obtain permission for access to private land.
You will also develop your knowledge of hydrological, hydrogeological, hydro-ecological and water quality monitoring techniques and relevant legislation to support environmental investigations.

- An effective communicator through written and verbal means.
- The ability to swim and drive (please state this in your application).
Desirable
- Practical experience in water quality monitoring or a similar subject.
- Health and safety experience (training can be provided).
- Experience operating and maintaining scientific equipment.
- Knowledge of the tools available for assessing and interpreting water quality and environmental data.
- Experience in data analysis and basic statistics.
