Are you looking for a role where you can utilise your agricultural academic credentials, as well as your acumen and understanding of the farming business community? Do you want to help sustainably recycle 240,000t of biosolids each year, in a dynamic area of our business, which has great development opportunities for the right individual?
If so, then we have a great opportunity to join our team as a Biosolids Recycling Controller! This will be a field-based role which could see you regularly travelling throughout the Wessex Water region.
What you'll do
As the Biosolids Recycling Controller, you will work to ensure that biosolids are sustainably recycled to land across the Wessex Water region.
To do this, you will liaise with the contractors delivering the operation and the 200+ farmers who purchase the 240,000t of biosolids each year, where you will make the initial farm contact and build good working relationships.
A key part of this role is to ensure we maintain our compliance with regulations, such as Farming Rules for Water(FRfW) nitrate vulnerable zones (NVZ), and sludge and environmental regulations.
To keep compliance, it is essential that all operational environmental, sludge and agricultural procedures are followed, and all activities are recorded on the company system for audit purposes by the Environmental Agency and Biosolids Assurance Scheme(BAS).
You will use your industry expertise to run a safe operation that generates maximum income and keeps costs down.
This role will be key in helping the team progress and adapt to new challenges, whether developing new markets, exploring new products, or incorporating new regulatory or environmental changes.
What you'll need
To be successful, your customer service skills will be excellent. You will also be a strong communicator and confident liaising with colleagues, contractors and farmers, where you can share their expertise and capabilities.
A good understanding of agriculture to help build relationships with existing customers, whilst developing new customers to increase the available landbank.
In addition, we are looking for someone with:
- the ability to take on a full understanding of sludge recycling regulations, and all associated regulations and codes of practice
- an understanding of agricultural practices, fertiliser requirements, crop rotations and the nutrient release of organic material
- a willingness to qualify in FACTs qualification and maintain this professional qualification annually
- a degree or similar level of experience
Due to the remote nature of the role, a full UK driving licence will be an essential requirement.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from trained mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
