Contract Administrator (Biodiversity Net Gain)

In this varied important role, you will support the Environment and Planning department's statutory planning commitments associated with the delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). This includes overseeing the completion of contracts and recording progress.    

Assisting the BNG Adviser and working collaboratively with the wider business, the BNG Contracts Administrator will be required to work independently on BNG elements of multiple planning applications at any one time.   

What you'll do 

You will be responsible for:

  • data entry and the maintenance of registers of payments, contracts, payments and purchasing, as well as registers for the internal allocations of biodiversity units from a variety of sources
  • managing work streams to ensure that BNG solutions are successful in planning applications and then on-site BNG is delivered and purchases of off-site BNG are completed without delaying water quality improvement development schemes
  • ensuring payments are processed and sent to payments via the authorisation process to keep our suppliers happy and ensure continued supply from them and delays aren't introduced
  • ensuring the correct transfer of information into systems once planning has been completed (updating databases, including Excel and GIS)
  • maintaining Customer Relationship Management (CRM) records
  • assisting in data quality and governance including Quality Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems. 

What you'll need 

We are looking for someone with knowledge of contract administration with an interest in the environmental planning industry.  

In addition, we are also looking for: 

  • a planning, environmental or geography degree or similar  
  • understanding of planning and conservation issues/policy/legislation
  • attention to detail and the ability to interrogate a document  
  • sound knowledge of contract administration  
  • excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel

  • proficiency in handling data using GIS  
  • legal experience (not essential but desirable)
  • attention to detail and the ability to interrogate a document
  • excellent communication and people skills  
  • initiative, positive and forward-thinking with a flexible approach to problem-solving and achieving solutions  
  • experience of both working independently and as part of a team  
  • good organisational and time management skills  
  • excellent written communication skills.
