Do you enjoy meeting people, making a difference in local communities, and having conversations that genuinely help protect homes and the environment? We're looking for a confident, friendly Domestic Engagement Officer to join our team.
If you're great with people, calm under pressure, and enjoy varied work that gets you out and about in the community, this is a role where you can genuinely make an impact.
What you'll do
You will:
- engage customers on their doorstep with clear, friendly conversations about how small changes can prevent sewer blockages, flooding and environmental harm
- provide advice and support to help customers understand the impact of flushing wipes down the toilet or pouring fats, oils, and grease down the drain, and encourage practical alternatives
- provide tailored advice, leaflets, and products to holiday parks, care homes, community groups, Universities, and other customer groups to help them prevent blockages in their local area
- work closely with operational teams to investigate and help prevent areas suffering from repeat sewer blockages and flooding.
What you'll need
In this role, we are looking for:
- experience in face-to-face customer engagement, community outreach, field roles or similar
- excellent communication skills with the ability to explain information clearly and simply, adapting your approach to different audiences
- the ability to remain calm, respectful and professional while handling customer complaints
- someone who is comfortable working independently, following lone‑working procedures
- good organisational skills with the ability to plan and manage your own time
- good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- someone with a proactive approach to health and safety - holding the safety of yourself, colleagues and members of the public at the forefront of all your activities
- the ability to work in all weather conditions.
Due to the nature of this role, it is essential you hold a valid manual driving licence – we'll provide you with a small van to perform your duties.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from trained mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
