Are you looking to make a move into a Trainer/Assessor role? Do you have experience in the Mechanical and Electrical industry?

In this exciting role, you will provide specialist technical training and coaching to electrical and mechanical maintenance employees within the YTL UK Group. 

The role ensures employees gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the qualification standards, and all support aligns with Department for Education (DfE) and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) guidance and regulatory requirements.

If shortlisted, there will be an interview process which will include delivering a 20-minute microteach on an assigned topic and responding to competency-based questions assessing your skills and experience.

What you'll do

You will:

  • coordinate and support all aspects of the technical journey for EM&I employees; map operational activities to qualification standards; provide technical coaching across electrical and mechanical installation, maintenance and asset management; identify barriers to progression and support professional behaviours; develop safe working practices
  • understand End Point Assessment (EPA) requirements and deliver support ensuring apprentice readiness, including mock EPA activities
  • deliver high quality technical knowledge sessions; apply teaching pedagogy; prepare resources; support induction activities; deliver any additional accredited qualifications aligned to EM&I internal requirements such as NVQs or Diploma units as required
  • proactively maintain up-to-date sector, regulatory and technical knowledge; ensuring all coaching reflects internal requirements and current industry practice, emerging technologies and legislative requirements - applying these principles to promote safe systems of work
  • engage in continuous professional development, sector networking and technical upskilling to ensure learning materials, assessments and workplace support remain aligned to industry standards, statutory guidance and safe engineering practice
  • liaise with managers and technical trainers to ensure all technical and mandatory training is completed
  • support workplace competency development, provide productive updates on performance and progress, and support achievement of targets
  • complete progress reviews/check-ins, in line with DfE and DWP expectations and in-house requirements
  • set and support achievement of technical SMART targets,  maintain accurate GDPR compliant records, provide updates to the Academy Manager, and attend Academy team meetings
  • undertake annual skills scans and maintain continuing professional development in technical engineering awareness, competence and teaching pedagogy.

What you'll need

We are looking for:

  • a willingness to train and gain qualifications to become a trainer/assessor or have experience in teaching, training and assessor qualification, Mechanical and Electrical experience
  • a strong understanding of safe systems of work
  • safeguarding awareness
  • effective planning and good communication skills
  • the ability to provide formal/informal feedback and customer-focused.

Existing qualifications that would support the application: 

  • Recognised Level 4 Diploma or HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  • Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Assessor qualification (TAQA or CAVA) 
  • Completion of a Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship 
  • DSEAR / Hazardous Area Competency 
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)  
  • Mechanical Maintenance/Fluid Power/Pump Maintenance Short Courses – Control & Instrumentation awareness training.
