Are you an experienced electrician who is looking to take the next step in your career within the water industry? Joining a friendly and supportive team, you'll help look after our water recycling centres, maintaining the highest standards for customers. 

What you'll do

This is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Technician to be a part of a high performing and dedicated Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation (EM&I) team to cover our Avonmouth water recycling centre, which is one of the largest in the UK and a lower tier COMAH establishment. 

You will be carrying out pre-planned maintenance on our water treatment assets, which may also include, planning small installations and refurbishments projects, as well as testing and inspecting your own work.  

You will take ownership of the effective operation of plant, machinery and equipment, while carrying out fault finding, fault diagnosis and fault resolution on our wiring systems, control wiring and control devices. Your experience and decision making will be of upmost importance, as you will will help us to confidently seek to make continuous improvements across the site. 

In this position you will be required to have a can-do attitude and a flexible approach to work, you will be working with a wide variety of products and equipment.  

We are looking for someone who can work autonomously and effectively with minimal supervision. As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours standby rota, covering areas including, Gloucester and Wiltshire.  

What you'll need

  • City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3
  • Time-served Electrical Apprenticeship.
  • Have excellent health and safety awareness and IT literacy.
  • Experience in three-phase and single-phase power and distribution.
  • Knowledge of control systems and panel wiring (Wimes).
  • Test and inspect in line with BS7671.
  • Compex 1-4 or 9&10, or a good understanding of Atex and DSEAR (desirable).
  • Experience in a FMCD or oil and gas (desirable)
  • Understanding of mechanical systems (dual-skilled) is preferred but not essential.
  • HV experience is desired but not essential.

To be considered for this role you must hold a valid UK driving licence, as there will be regular travel around various sites within our region.  

Whilst performing in your role, you will have ongoing opportunities to develop your skill set and knowledge, which can include formal and in house training to fill any gaps. 

This is a Monday to Friday role, but standby cover will be required for evenings and weekends on a rota basis, which equates to an availability payment of around £1,950 per year, plus a performance bonus of up to 5% of your salary and overtime available. 

We also offer a holiday top up payment, which allows you to increase your earnings throughout the year. 

A company van and all the tools and training you will need to complete your role will be provided.
