As the Enabling Services Strategy Manager, you will lead the development, coordination, oversight, and delivery of Wessex Water's long-term strategy for its enabling services functions. This is to further support operational resilience, digital and cyber security capabilities, compliance and customer satisfaction.
This role leads long-term strategic investment planning in this area by identifying and prioritising future business needs. The role ensures alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory expectations, and AMP8 deliverables.
What you'll do
You will play a pivotal leadership role in safeguarding operational resilience and shaping strategic investment across core business support areas. Acting as a key interface between the asset technology planning manager, the wider business and senior leaders, the postholder ensures that future investment decisions are informed, aligned, and deliver sustainable value.
You will be:
- leading the strategy of the Management & General (M&G) investment portfolio, encompassing diverse domains: Plant & Fleet, Laboratories, Property, Facilities Management, Conservation, Access & Recreation, Information Security, IT, Retail, Net Zero, Resilience, SEMD, and Smart Metering
- understanding the needs of customers, communities, and the environment
- influencing our 25-year company-wide strategic direction and business planning process
- delivering a strategy that meets legislative and regulatory requirements whilst delivering customer and environmental needs and investor returns
- providing visible leadership internally and externally, including across the UK water sector
- collaborating with all areas of the business to define strategy in partnership with stakeholders
- horizon scanning, understanding technological innovations, keeping ahead of the market
- bringing a structured and analytical approach to solving strategic, commercial, operational, and health and safety issues
- contributing to a developing culture within the strategy team to achieve high levels of strategic thinking and cross-company collaboration
- influencing sector and government policy.
What you'll need
We are looking for:
- HNC/Degree qualified or equivalent professional experience
- High level of strategic thinking, vision, horizon scanning
- the desire to investigate, analyse, and innovate
- excellent two-way dialogue with cross-functional teams
- strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
- a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to define and lead business-critical projects
- proven experience in developing creative solutions to difficult problems
- excellent time management skills
- flexibility, adaptability and able to work under pressure
- exceptionally good analytical skills, and the ability to translate raw information into actionable strategies and initiatives
- the ability to shape a narrative and structure communications
- proven strong leadership skills
- knowledge of any aspects of Plant & Fleet, Laboratories, Property, Facilities Management, Conservation, Access & Recreation, Information Security, IT, Retail, Net Zero, Resilience, SEMD, and Smart Metering (beneficial).
