What You'll Do

You will:

  • deliver planned and reactive maintenance works across the Estate, including minor repairs, fencing repairs, strimming, hedge cutting, reptile fence maintenance, litter picking and similar estate management activities
  • carry out all works safely and to a high standard, in accordance with the applicable RAMS, health and safety legislation, YTL policies and procedures and safe systems of work
  • contribute to weekly work planning and daily briefings with the Estates Works Supervisor, advising on the most effective approach to tasks and helping to plan future works
  • undertake regular patrols of Estate fence lines, boundaries and other areas to confirm they remain secure and intact, including surveys using our camera system where required
  • proactively identify, report and resolve maintenance defects, disrepair and incidents, and recommend cost-effective solutions
  • record activity and progress accurately using IT reporting systems, workstream trackers, task checklists and forms, and escalating any non-compliance to the Estates Works Supervisor
  • complete pre-use checks of tools and equipment, report defects, and keep tools, equipment and work areas clean, safe and in good order
  • assist with the upkeep of Estate vehicles, limited to cleaning, routine visual checks and reporting any defects to the Estates Works Supervisor
  • act as one of a number of keyholders for the Estates Team, which may require an emergency response outside normal working hours.

What You'll Need

You'll ideally bring:

  • practical experience of property, grounds or land maintenance, ideally within an estate, construction or facilities environment
  • competentcy in carrying out minor repairs using hand and power tools
  • experience of safely operating grounds maintenance equipment such as strimmers and hedge trimmers
  • the ability to understand and work to RAMS, recognise the risks associated with tasks and follow health and safety procedures
  • knowledge of, or willingness to be trained in, pre-use checks of tools, equipment and machinery and the identification of hazards and defects. Training will be provided where required
  • the ability to maintain and safely operate equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions
  • the ability to identify faults and defects, recommend solutions and escalate where required
  • experience of working around contractors, traffic management, deliveries or construction activities would be advantageous
  • good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deal courteously with colleagues, tenants, contractors and visitors
  • basic IT skills to record activity, complete digital checklists and use reporting systems, mobile apps and email
  • the ability to take instructions, update progress and close out actions promptly
  • skills as a team player who can also work alone, prioritise tasks independently and use discretion
  • good time management, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing site requirements and priorities
  • initiative and a sense of urgency, and is willing to suggest practical, cost-effective solutions
  • a commitment to continuous improvement, diversity and inclusion.

This is a site-based role, so you'll also need a valid driving licence.
