Become a Fire Safety Advisor Apprentice by gaining a Level 3 without going to university. You will be part of a team working in the health and safety area of the business from the start of the programme.
You will undertake training activities on the job supported by experienced staff within the team and be allocated a mentor to help you throughout your apprenticeship.
You will also carry out around 400 hours of off-the-job training across the duration of your apprenticeship, which is dedicated paid learning time to attend workshops and other online training activities.
What you'll do
In this apprenticeship, you will support the organisation in managing fire safety risk across its buildings, operational sites and workplaces, particularly where it has been difficult to recruit a competent full-time Fire Risk Advisor Apprentice.
This role will provide an important level of internal fire safety competence, reduce reliance on hard-to-recruit specialist roles, improve oversight of fire risk management, and help maintain safe, compliant and resilient workplaces.
This apprenticeship covers key areas required for effective health and safety practice, including:
- fire safety roles and professional responsibilities
- fire safety legislation and key terminology
- equality, diversity and safeguarding
- stakeholder engagement and conflict management
- fire science and fire behaviour
- building construction and fire spread
- fire prevention and control strategies
- fire protection systems
- fire risk assessment and auditing
- investigation, reporting and professional practice.
What you'll need
You will need:
- good written and verbal communication skills
- the ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
- competency in Microsoft 365 applications
- the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
- attention to detail and commitment to quality.
It is desirable that you also have a basic understanding of health and safety requirements in the workplace.
Apprenticeship Information
Duration
12 to18 months.
For the right candidate who demonstrates appropriate skills and behaviours through their apprenticeship, this will lead to a permanent role.
Qualifications
On completion of this apprenticeship, you will hold Fire Safety Advisor Level 3.
Training provision
- The training is provided by Compass Training.
- Training is delivered through a flexible and structured approach via virtual tutor-led workshops, online learning materials and resources, assignments and practical application and one-to-one support and guidance.
Completion - End Point Assessment (EPA)
The End Point Assessment is the final stage of the apprenticeship and includes:
- online multiple-choice knowledge test (40 questions)
- workplace project and report
- online presentation with questioning
- professional discussion supported by a portfolio of evidence.
You can achieve a Pass or Distinction grade.
