We are looking for an Asset Life Cycle Reliability Engineer to strengthen how reliability thinking is applied to live, operating assets. 

This role sits within the Operate & Maintain part of the Asset Management Framework and focuses on improving asset performance by applying FMECA, RCM thinking and failure analysis on day‑to‑day operations, maintenance planning, execution and continuous improvement. 

You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and planning/scheduling teams to ensure assets are maintained in a way that manages risk, reduces repeat failures and delivers whole‑life value. 

What you'll do 

As an Asset Life Cycle Reliability Engineer, your key responsibilities will include: 

  • applying reliability and life‑cycle thinking to in‑service assets across their operational life
  • developing and maintaining Asset Operation & Care Plans aligned to asset risk and failure behaviour
  • using FMECA to understand critical failure modes and ensure they are effectively controlled
  • applying RCM principles to optimise preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
  • reviewing maintenance tasks, frequencies and job plans to ensure they remain effective and appropriate
  • analysing asset failure, defect and downtime data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • supporting and leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for repeat or high‑impact failures
  • working with planning and scheduling teams to support risk‑based work prioritisation
  • improving failure data quality and learning within the CMMS/EAM system
  • feeding operational reliability learning into capital maintenance, asset replacement and design decisions
  • building reliability capability within operations and maintenance teams through coaching and support.

What you'll need 

You will have practical experience working with operational assets in an asset‑intensive environment. 

You will also need: 

  • experience applying FMECA and RCM in a live operating and maintenance context
  • a strong understanding of maintenance strategies and execution realities
  • experience analysing failure and performance data to drive improvement
  • the ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance and planning teams
  • strong communication skills, with the ability to translate analysis into practical actions
  • confidence influencing without direct authority
  • good IT and data‑analysis skills, including use of CMMS/EAM systems (e.g.MS Dynamics).

A degree in engineering or equivalent technical experience is desirable, along with reliability or asset management training.
