Can you move 20,000 people without anyone noticing? Well, not quite. But if you can orchestrate buses, trains, taxis, park and ride services, pedestrians, stakeholders, local authorities, residents and eventgoers into one seamless transport operation, we should definitely talk.

The Aviva Arena is set to become the South West's most exciting live entertainment destination. Hosting up to 20,000 guests across around 140 event days every year, we'll welcome some of the world's biggest artists, events and experiences.

While the audience sees an unforgettable night out, you'll be the mastermind ensuring they get there and home again safely, sustainably and efficiently.

We're looking for a Head of Transport to create and lead the transport strategy for this landmark venue. This is far more than a transport role. It's part operations, part strategy, part stakeholder management and part problem-solving wizardry.

You'll be responsible for building a best-in-class transport operation from the ground up, balancing exceptional customer experience with planning obligations, commercial performance and community impact.

If the thought of designing transport solutions for tens of thousands of people makes you smile rather than sweat, keep reading.

What you'll do

One minute you'll be shaping the long-term transport strategy for one of the UK's most exciting new venues.

The next, you'll be planning the transport operation for a sold-out show, ensuring thousands of guests arrive and leave safely, smoothly and sustainably.

You'll be responsible for creating an operation that feels effortless to customers, while expertly balancing planning obligations, community impact, commercial performance and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • developing and delivering the arena's transport strategy, ensuring compliance with planning obligations and Section 106 commitments
  • leading transport operations across parking, park and ride, shuttle buses, and PUDO facilities and working with rail services, scheduled bus routes, taxi, cycling and pedestrian access
  • building strong partnerships with local authorities, transport operators, National Rail, National Highways, landowners and community stakeholders
  • overseeing transport contracts, service level agreements and supplier performance to ensure exceptional service delivery
  • using data, reporting and insight to monitor transport effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement and meet reporting requirements
  • working closely with Event Operations, Security, Safety, Facilities and Sustainability teams to deliver safe and seamless event-day experiences
  • supporting emergency planning and resilience activities, ensuring robust contingency plans are in place when needed
  • helping shape the future of transport at Brabazon as the wider destination continues to grow.

What you'll need

You're the type of person who looks at a complex logistical challenge and immediately starts working out how to make it run better.

You'll understand that transport isn't just about moving people from A to B. It's about creating great experiences, building trusted partnerships and ensuring everything works exactly as it should, even when thousands of people all decide to leave at the same time.

You'll bring a blend of strategic thinking, operational expertise and stakeholder management skills, along with the confidence to influence decisions at every level.

You'll ideally have:

  • experience in transport, logistics, traffic management or large-scale event operations
  • a track record of developing and delivering transport strategies within a complex environment
  • experience managing multiple stakeholders, partners and suppliers to achieve shared outcomes
  • strong commercial awareness, including budget management and contract oversight
  • knowledge of crowd management principles and transport planning for large visitor volumes
  • experience measuring, analysing and improving operational performance through data and reporting
  • an understanding of industry guidance such as the Green Guide, Purple Guide or equivalent safety frameworks
  • relevant transport or logistics qualifications, or equivalent professional experience
  • strong digital and AI literacy, with the ability to use technology and data to improve planning, communication and decision-making
  • a collaborative, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • A car allowance.
  • Performance-related bonus.
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from trained mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
