In this varied role, you will help manage the provision of environmental information to external stakeholders in line with Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requirements, including coordinating responses, supporting compliance, and improving systems and processes to ensure the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality information.

What you'll do

You will:

  • help manage Wessex Water's approach to providing external environmental information to third parties, primarily through ownership and oversight of the EIR process, including managing the email inbox and coordinating all responses. This covers information requests from customers, the general public, lobbyists, activists, and journalists citing EIR
  • assist in coordinating Wessex Water's responses by liaising with relevant internal technical experts, including, but not limited to, Legal, Compliance, PR, and Environmental teams, as appropriate. It will act as the central point of contact for the external provision of information of this nature
  • access relevant data collection and storage systems, such as Scientific Systems, SWIMS, Compliance databases, PRISM, and EDM returns, to identify the data required for responses
  • prepare first draft responses and supporting data for review, amendment, and approval by technical experts
  • work closely with the Performance Management and IT teams to identify and develop efficient systems that enable easy access to routine data requests, and to explore opportunities to publish data on the corporate website to enhance external accessibility
  • review and improve the current approach to external information management, developing efficient systems to support high-quality responses to a growing volume and increasing complexity of requests
  • develop and deliver training packages to internal stakeholders to raise awareness of EIR processes and the organisation's approach to managing them
  • participate in and liaise with national groups, such as the Water UK EIR Network, to understand industry best practice, emerging changes, and wider approaches
  • lead work to improve the proactive sharing of environmental information, increasing the visibility and understanding of investigations and capital programme outputs, aligned with plans such as the Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan
  • lead initiatives to improve internal systems and enhance visibility of environmental information, supporting internal teams to access relevant and timely data.

What you'll need

We are looking for:

  • interest and experience of working in the environmental or communications sectors
  • a degree in business administration or similar
  • literacy, communication and report writing skills; able to write fluidly for a range of audiences.
  • experience with varying data sources, e.g., spreadsheets, databases, etc
  • experience in working to deadlines and proactively managing workloads to prioritise timely output of information.

Desirable experience:

  • understanding of Environmental Information Regulations and Freedom of Information Act
  • experience with different data packages and corporate systems.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from trained mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
