As our new Investment Analyst, you will support the reporting of the capital investment programme for each 5-year business plan.
You will be responsible for internal and external reporting on capital investment and supporting adherence to the capital governance processes.
You will provide support to business stakeholders in managing and utilising capital budgets effectively.
You will also support the development of regular internal capital reporting to assist in robust decision-making that aligns with risk and strategic priorities.
What you'll receive
In this varied role, you will be responsible for tracking performance versus the internal business plan (IBP), supporting annual budget setting and reporting capital investment.
You will:
- support setting annual financial budgets and quarterly financial forecasts for the capital investment programme
- ensure the proposed capital budget will achieve regulatory and internal targets
- communicate new operational cost allowances for the operational budget
- develop the financial reporting in conjunction with the planning and strategy teams
- provide financial data and analysis for business reviews
- develop dashboards to track and analyse key metrics, progress and performance indicators to facilitate informed decision making
- identify variances in the programme to agreed performance and outcomes
- support the coordination of any new requirements to the process and programme
- support the Investment Governance and Control Lead to ensure that the investment governance process is understood and adhered to.
What you'll need
We are looking for:
- degree qualification in a finance, mathematics, engineering, or related analytical discipline
- experience working in the water industry (beneficial, not essential)
- strong experience in data analysis, with advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, and Power Query; experience in data governance practices is desirable
- demonstrated ability to absorb complex technical or regulatory information and communicate it clearly and simply to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing
- highly detail-oriented with a proactive, curious mindset and strong problem-solving skills
- willingness and ability to learn new systems, tools, and approaches quickly
- excellent communication at all levels, both written and verbal
- effective with time management and expected deliverables
- excellent organisation and planning skills.
