Laboratory Registration Technician

In this varied role, you will carry out sample registration, sample receipt, sample disposal, assist with basic sample preparation and assist the Laboratory Services Technician as required.

What you'll do

You will:

• sample receipt and registration onto LIMS database
• handle of associated paperwork, record keeping and receipts pertinent to registration of samples
• prepare and dispatch of samples for external analysis and sample bottle orders
• assist with customer queries relating to sample registration
• sample disposal and organisation of sample storage
• adhere to the relevant COSHH procedures and health and safety regulations
• assist with the non-specialist cleaning of laboratory glassware, volumetric equipment and sample bottles
• keep the working area clean and tidy, ensure good housekeeping
• take immediate action to clear up any chemical spillages or to bring these to the attention of a Senior Scientist
• assist Lab Services Technician with goods receipt and storage as required
• assist with peripheral laboratory preparation tasks as required
• data checking for sample registration paperwork.

What you'll need

In this role, we are looking for:

• basic numeracy and literacy skills, some understanding of science would be beneficial
• basic understanding of the different sample types and matrices
• the ability to register samples onto the Laboratory LIMS system
• basic IT literacy and working to ISO17025 requirements
• good communication skills and customer service ethos
• good team working skills.
