Do you have a track record of working with utilities or infrastructure projects to secure land and access rights?  If so, we have an excellent opportunity to join Wessex Water's Land Entry & Compensation Team as a Land & Compensation Surveyor.

What you'll do

As part of one of the UK's top-performing water and sewerage companies, you'll play a key role in supporting our ambitious investment programme, delivering benefits for both customers and the environment.

Based at our Head Office in Bath and reporting to the Land & Compensation Manager, you will be responsible for securing land and associated rights required for project delivery.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • providing specialist advice on site selection, project design, and land acquisition strategies
  • managing the service of statutory notices under the Water Industry Act 1991
  • negotiating land purchases, access rights and easements, and instructing solicitors accordingly
  • ensuring compliance with the company's codes of practice and land entry principles
  • assessing, negotiating and settling compensation claims (statutory and non-statutory)
  • advising on mitigation, accommodation works, and reinstatement
  • supporting processes such as Warrants of entry, ADR and Compulsory Purchase where required.

What you'll need

We're seeking a confident and pragmatic individual who can build strong relationships and navigate complex negotiations.

You will ideally have:

  • a degree or equivalent qualification in land/estate management, with at least five years' relevant experience
  • working knowledge of rural land management, valuation principles, and agricultural practices
  • experience applying relevant legislation, including land law, planning, compulsory purchase and compensation
  • excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise, manage multiple tasks and work under pressure
  • a high level of attention to detail and sound professional judgement.

Membership of RICS (or AssocRICS) and/or CAAV is desirable but not essential if equivalent experience can be demonstrated.

A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are required, as travel across the region is part of the role.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.

  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
