The Isolation Authority will play a key role in the safe and efficient coordination of all works on site, serving as the central point of control for incoming work requests from stakeholders across G2G, Engineering, Operations, EMI&I, and Food Waste and Composting. Each request will be carefully assessed and either approved or declined based on resource availability, operational priorities, and compliance with relevant procedures.
In addition, you will work closely with the control room personnel to manage access to the COMAH Establishment, ensuring that all entry requirements are met and that strict safety and regulatory procedures are consistently followed.
What you'll do
- Coordinate and oversee works across a complex 24/7 treatment site.
- Review and approve work requests, ensuring documentation meets required standards.
- Prioritise activities based on safety, operations and resources.
- Carry out electrical and mechanical isolations to Wessex Water standards and issue permits.
- Liaise with engineers, technicians and key stakeholders to plan works.
- Control access to the COMAH Establishment, ensuring strict compliance.
- Ensure adherence to DSEAR, H&S and company procedures.
- Audit contractors and staff to maintain safety and compliance.
- Support continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
What you'll need
- Experience managing permits/works on an operational site or strong technical experience in the utilities industry.
- Minimum Level 3 in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- DSEAR qualification (e.g. CompEx) or willingness to train.
- Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH/NEBOSH) or willingness to train.
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Confidence working with policies and procedures.
- Strong organisational and written skills.
- Water recycling experience beneficial, but not essential.
