We're looking for a dynamic and driven Project Manager to drive performance improvement across our sewerage pumping stations and network assets. This role is centred on delivering a reduction in the number and/or duration of spills from our outfalls through a structured programme of improvement works.
You'll lead projects focused on making improvements to the sewer network, pumping station or potential customer rainwater connection, ensuring our assets operate at optimal performance to reduce the number and duration of occasions when a compliant spill may occur. This role will initially focus on improvements in the Bath Catchment and may progress to other catchments if progress in the trial provides evidence for transferable changes.
Please note this is a 12-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity.
What you'll do
- Lead multiple optimisation projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring clear milestones are achieved and measurable performance improvements are realised.
- Lead the development and delivery of schemes to reduce the volume of rainwater that reaches the combined/foul system.
- Develop and present project proposals focused on pumping station and network optimisation.
- Deliver initiatives to reduce spill number or duration through improvements to the foul, combined or surface water systems and potential changes to the pumping systems.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including field operations, engineering, data analysts, and other specialists to deliver optimisation outcomes.
- Monitor, analyse, and report on asset performance and energy outcomes, ensuring benefits are tracked and realised.
What you'll need
- An energetic self-starter able to work on own initiative and work closely with a wide range of teams.
- Proven experience in project management within the water or utility sectors is desirable.
- Strong understanding of telemetry, operational technologies, and wastewater services.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
- A collaborative mindset with a passion for problem-solving and innovation.
This role has the potential to include people management if the trial provides the evidence to include direct reports; therefore, previous people management experience would be beneficial.
- Willingness to travel regionally for site visits and stakeholder engagement.
Above all else, we are looking for someone with the energy and enthusiasm to make a difference, innovate, and work closely with others.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
