We have an exciting opportunity at YTL Construction UK for a Project Manager with an engineering background to join our Treatment Delivery team, delivering water recycling treatment schemes across our region.

Working alongside our Capital Delivery Partners, you will be responsible for managing multi-million-pound projects ranging from £5m to £30m.

What you'll do

You will engage with multiple stakeholders, lead by example (by guiding and motivating the project team), and deliver the required outputs in line with Wessex Water and YTL Construction UK's business needs.

Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will be responsible for leading, managing and coordinating multidisciplinary teams of consultants, in-house designers, and construction teams to deliver capital wastewater treatment schemes from outline design to commissioning and client takeover.

The role will include:

  • overseeing all phases of engineering schemes in accordance with NEC4 forms of contract
  • managing work packages, ensuring adherence to client specifications, programme and budget
  • financial and programme management of schemes and reporting on project milestones alongside Quantity Surveyors and Planners
  • securing financial approval for scheme progression, including client and operations liaison
  • reviewing estimates and designs
  • ensuring compliance with safety and quality procedures, while also considering legal, contractual and governance obligations and budgetary boundaries
  • communicating with a wide range of clients and external stakeholders
  • liaising with design and delivery teams, including process, civil, mechanical, electrical, automation and commissioning teams
  • working together with our Capital Delivery Partners to identify and mitigate risks as early as possible
  • facilitating and leading programme-wide working groups focusing on iterative improvement of design and delivery.

Working locations will vary and include hybrid working. You will work from our Bath office, satellite offices, construction sites and consultants' offices.

You will have ownership of the projects that you are responsible for, with guidance from the Programme Manager as well as plenty of support and opportunities for you to learn.

What you'll need

This role suits a self-motivated individual who is an excellent communicator, enjoys working in a team, and is good at critical thinking.

You will also have the ability to review and challenge information, drive improvements and progress on a project and programme level, whilst maintaining good working relationships with all stakeholders.

You'll also have:

  • a relevant engineering degree/certificate or time served experience
  • a relevant professional qualification or chartership
  • experience in the water sector or process-related construction industry
  • project risk management experience, including safety, environmental, process, programme and budget
  • experience working with Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations and fulfilling the Principal Designer role
  • computer literacy and experience working with programmes and packages such as MS Project and MS Office
  • a valid full UK driving license.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds, including those who are looking for the next stage in their career, and candidates who have taken a break from the industry.

If you have the engineering background, passion, and mindset to help us deliver our schemes for the next generation of investment, we would like to hear from you.
