Join us as a Regional Assistant Asset Team Manager and help manage and coordinate all activities across our regional Asset teams, ensuring safe working practices and creating an environment where the teams can excel.
The responsibilities focus on safety, quality, time, and cost, while delivering the best value for Wessex Water by reducing operational risk and supporting continuous improvement across our assets.
What you'll do
As the Regional Assistant Asset Team Manager, you will:
- line manage the Asset teams and ensure the delivery of an excellent service
- be responsible for maintaining our assets effectively and ensuring the team operates at maximum output with the resources available
- take a proactive approach to improving asset maintenance activities, making them as efficient and cost‑effective as possible
- ensure all tasks are carried out with health and safety as a priority, particularly given the variety of construction activities undertaken by the team
- help drive the business forward by implementing cost‑saving initiatives, operating safely within budget, and supporting the achievement of our targets
- provide day‑to‑day support, leadership, and guidance to your team
- work closely with your team to monitor health and safety, staff performance, outstanding work, and compliance regularly
- manage and lead both the Asset and Chemical teams
- maintain strong working relationships with Water Recycling teams and Managers
- oversee all subcontractor activities undertaken for the Asset teams, including liaising and coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers of plant and materials
- liaise and coordinate with support services such as Environmental Engineers, Buyers, Transport, and HR
- work with Asset Lifecycle Engineers when reviewing capital maintenance request forms from the business
- manage the team's HR and training records, ensuring all information is kept up to date.
What you'll need
To succeed, you will be a conscientious, focused worker. Your communication skills will enable you to resolve complex issues, often under pressure, while your attention to detail will assist with daily operations.
You will be a proactive and confident leader, as well as having effective communication skills
In addition, we are looking for:
- an excellent understanding of our policies and procedures
- a demonstrable track record in the practical application of process skills
- a valid driving licence - this is vital as you'll be working across a number of sites and offices
- experience complying with health and safety guidelines, ensuring they are adhered to and records are kept, achieving a safe working environment, and ensuring all workmanship is of an adequate quality
- someone who can ensure the team is following all relevant processes and using all relevant forms (record keeping is essential)
- someone who consistently produces a high quality of work with the utmost regard for health, safety and environment to a programme and budget competitive with other contracted services
- relevant construction site experience.

- Asbestos Awareness
- Environmental Awareness / E3mp
- CDM Awareness
- Water recycling waste process knowledge.
