We're looking for an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to lead the procurement of works and professional services that keep major operational and capital programmes flowing across the water sector.
With responsibility for a portfolio of frameworks worth over £500m and leadership of a talented procurement team, you'll be making the big calls, shaping supplier strategies and influencing investments that leave a lasting mark on critical infrastructure.
This is procurement with a seat at the table, real influence, and plenty of opportunity to make your mark.
What you'll do
As Senior Procurement Manager, you'll be the commercial driving force behind some of our most important procurement activity.
You'll turn complex challenges into smart solutions, build supplier partnerships that go beyond the transactional, and ensure every procurement delivers value, resilience and long-term impact.
You will also:
- develop and deliver procurement strategies aligned to business priorities and major capital programmes
- lead the full procurement lifecycle, from market engagement and sourcing through to contract award and supplier management
- establish, negotiate and manage high-value frameworks and contracts, including NEC and bespoke agreements
- build strategic supplier relationships that drive innovation, performance and sustainable outcomes
- ensure procurement activity complies with environmental, health & safety and regulated procurement requirements
- manage budgets, track savings and uncover opportunities for greater commercial value
- proactively manage commercial and supply chain risks before they become headaches
- lead, coach and develop a team of procurement professionals, creating a culture where people and performance thrive
- collaborate with engineering, operations, finance and legal teams to support successful project delivery.
What you'll need
You'll be a strategic thinker, a skilled negotiator and someone who knows that great procurement is about people as much as process.
Comfortable navigating complexity and influencing senior stakeholders, you'll bring the experience and confidence to lead large-scale procurement activity while spotting opportunities others might overlook.
You'll also have:
- substantial procurement experience within water, utilities, construction or infrastructure
- strong experience of regulated procurement and large-scale framework management
- proven success negotiating and managing complex, high-value contracts
- experience leading and developing high-performing teams
- excellent commercial and financial acumen
- a strong understanding of procurement governance, risk management and supplier performance
- the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
- experience using e-procurement and contract management systems
- clear communication skills and a passion for delivering better outcomes.
This isn't about pushing paper and ticking boxes. It's about shaping major infrastructure programmes, building partnerships that stand the test of time, and proving that great procurement can change the trajectory of a business.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- A car allowance.
- Performance-related bonus.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from trained mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
