We're looking for an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to lead the procurement of works and professional services supporting major operational and capital programmes within the water sector.
Managing a portfolio of high-value frameworks (over £500m) and leading a team of procurement professionals, you'll play a critical role in delivering value through cost-effective and sustainable procurements that support long-term business objectives.
This is a senior leadership role offering real influence across large-scale infrastructure programmes, supplier markets and internal stakeholders.
What you'll do
As Senior Procurement Manager, you'll take ownership of strategic, high-value procurement across works and professional services.
You'll lead end-to-end procurement activities, shape long-term supplier relationships and ensure procurement outcomes support major capital and operational delivery, while remaining compliant, sustainable and commercially robust.
You will also:
- develop and deliver procurement strategies aligned with business objectives, capital programmes and operational requirements
- lead the full procurement lifecycle, from planning and sourcing through to contract award and ongoing management
- establish, negotiate and manage high-value frameworks and contracts (including NEC and bespoke agreements), selecting the most appropriate commercial models
- build and manage strategic supplier relationships, driving performance, innovation, resilience and sustainable supply chain practices
- ensure procurement activity complies with environmental standards, health & safety legislation and where appropriate, regulated procurement requirements
- manage procurement budgets, monitor savings and performance, and leverage market insight to identify cost efficiencies
- proactively identify and manage commercial and supply chain risks, including contingency planning
- lead, develop and inspire a team of procurement and commercial professionals, embedding best practice and continuous improvement
- work closely with engineering, operations, finance and legal teams to support successful project and asset delivery.
What you'll need
You'll bring senior-level procurement expertise from an infrastructure-led environment, alongside strong leadership capability and commercial judgement.
You'll be confident in leading procurement activity that falls under regulated procurement with strong framework experience, and be comfortable managing complexity, influencing stakeholders and delivering compliant procurement solutions at scale.
You'll also have:
- substantial procurement experience within the water, utilities, construction or infrastructure sectors
- strong background in regulated procurement and large-scale capital delivery or framework management
- proven experience negotiating and managing complex, high-value contracts and supplier relationships
- significant people leadership experience, with a track record of developing and leading high-performing teams
- excellent commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control and performance reporting
- a solid understanding of procurement governance, risk management and supplier performance management
- the ability to collaborate and influence across technical, commercial and corporate stakeholders
- experience using e-procurement and contract management systems
- clear, confident communication skills and the ability to drive change.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- A car allowance.
- Performance-related bonus.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from trained mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
