Are you looking for your next challenge? Do you enjoy solving complex problems, working collaboratively across teams and helping shape how we deliver resilient water supplies for our customers?

We're looking for a Supply Optimisation Manager to join us on an 18-month secondment. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing and optimising our water supply system while helping to deliver our resilience, operational and strategic objectives.

Whether your background is in operations, engineering, planning, asset management, risk, analytics or programme delivery, we'd love to hear from you if you're passionate about making a difference and eager to develop your leadership experience.

As Supply Optimisation Manager, you'll lead a team focused on ensuring our water supply system operates efficiently and is always ‘Supply Ready'. You'll work with colleagues across Water Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, Capital Delivery, Control Room, Customer Services and Strategy to identify opportunities, manage risks and support key business decisions. The role offers a unique blend of strategic planning, operational oversight, performance management and people leadership.

What you'll do

You will:

  • manage the operation of the strategic supply network throughout the abstraction licence calendar year taking into account planned and unplanned outages
  • manage and monitor annual and resilience licence requirements
  • identify and manage supply risks, resilience challenges and improvement opportunities
  • monitor the supply energy budget and bulk import budgets and help ensure we get the best value from our assets
  • monitor performance and reporting outcomes
  • support informed decision-making through analysis and insight.

Through operational leadership and managing a highly technical team, you will provide governance and oversight across key operational activities, including:

  • outage planning
  • delivery of the regional Optimiser and Remote-Control rollout programme
  • identifying and delivering efficiency opportunities
  • supporting operational teams during periods of increased demand or supply risk.

What you'll need

We recognise that great candidates don't always meet every requirement, so if you're excited by the opportunity and feel you could make a positive contribution, we encourage you to apply.

You'll likely bring:

  • significant experience in water supply operations
  • strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • the ability to build effective relationships across teams
  • proven experience of managing teams, projects, programmes or operational activities
  • a collaborative and inclusive leadership style
  • confidence working with data, performance information and business priorities
  • the ability to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery
  • experience in water operations or supply optimisation would be beneficial, but equally important is your ability to learn quickly, influence others and drive positive outcomes.

This secondment provides an excellent opportunity to:

  • develop leadership experience in a high-profile role
  • build your understanding of water supply resilience and strategy
  • work across multiple business areas and senior stakeholder groups
  • shape decisions that directly impact customers and the environment
  • gain exposure to AMP delivery, drought resilience, operational governance and strategic planning.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from trained mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
