Are you passionate about environmental compliance and using data to identify issues before they arise? If so, this role is for you!
We are looking for a Wastewater Compliance Advisor to lead a small team focused on monitoring compliance performance, identifying emerging risks and providing insight to the business. You'll help develop reporting tools, analyse performance trends and support the business in understanding and responding to regulatory requirements. This role will play an important part in helping Wessex Water protect the environment and maintain compliance with environmental legislation.
What you'll do
In this varied role, you will:
- lead a small team focused on wastewater compliance data and intelligence
- develop and maintain reports, dashboards and systems used to monitor proactive compliance
- identify compliance risks and provide advice on preventative actions
- work with operational and engineering teams to investigate compliance issues and identify opportunities for improvement
- support the development of wastewater compliance policy, processes and guidance
- stay up-to-date with changes in environmental regulations and guidance
- represent Wessex Water at national forums, and support engagement with regulators (EA, Ofwat, DEFRA)
- provide expert advice on wastewater compliance matters.
What you'll need
We are looking for:
- a degree-level qualification within STEM or a related subject, or have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the water industry or in a data analysis and reporting role
- strong computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft products such as Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), SharePoint Online and reporting functions such as Power BI
- you to confidently produce accurate, well-structured, written English for formal letter writing and third-party correspondence
- you to be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic environment and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team. This is a varied role, and so excellent organisational skills are also key
- attention to detail, competency in investigating and resolving issues and excellent time management skills to ensure that deadlines are met
- strong communication skills are also required; You will effectively and clearly communicate technical information within the team, to the wider business and to regulators
- in-depth knowledge of environmental legislation, risk management and workplace initiatives
- experience working in an environmental management role at a similar level
- experience working in a regulated industry and within a quality management system
- ideally, you will be a member or working towards membership of a relevant professional body
- you to hold a full UK driving licence.
