Working in collaboration with the broader team, consultants and the West Country Water and Environment Group, the role will require you to analyse data and develop key technical planning components to support strategic plan delivery.
Depending on experience, and how that fits with the wider team, this may include:

- regulatory reporting for our annual review process of the Water Resources Management Plan
- working collaboratively and effectively with other departments and regulators to ensure regulatory deliverables are completed on time and efficiently.
What you'll need
You will be required to have a sound understanding of IT systems and software, preferably with a background in water resources planning, the UK regulatory context for planning, or in one of the technical areas covered in the planning process, particularly in demand forecasting and environmental sustainability of licence reductions/hydrology.
Attention to detail and the ability to develop, maintain and execute workflows to provide sound evidence to support decision-making are essential.
- a degree in a relevant environmental or engineering subject
- demonstrable experience in data analysis in Excel, through dashboard development or through programming languages, including Python or R
- the ability to develop, follow and maintain procedures to ensure the accurate maintenance of technical workflows
- having good attention to detail and organisational skills to ensure reporting deadlines are met
- being methodical with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work using your own initiative.
Additional desirable requirements for the role include:
- experience in programming for undertaking data analysis, in particular with R or Python

- familiarity with web mapping (ArcGIS Online)
- experience and understanding of the Water Resource Management Plan process
- experience of working in a regulatory environment – e.g. regulatory reporting and compliance
- application of AI agents (eg, in copilot) to support technical workflow development.
We don't expect you to cover all bases here! We're looking for a diligent, skilled and motivated individual who wants to build on their existing skill set in the next 5 years to help us develop our next round of plans.
