Complete our digital learning designer apprenticeship and become a designer by gaining a foundation degree without going to university. 

In this apprenticeship, you will support the design, development, implementation and evaluation of engaging digital learning solutions that meet organisational learning needs while developing professional knowledge and skills. 

What you'll do 

On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be able to: 

  • support the design and development of digital learning solutions to meet identified business and learner needs 
  • assist in gathering and analysing learning requirements from stakeholders to inform learning design decisions 
  • create and maintain eLearning content using approved authoring tools, templates and brand standards 
  • develop learning assets including text, graphics, videos, assessments and interactive content to support learning outcomes 
  • upload, configure and maintain learning content and resources within the Learning Management System 
  • apply instructional design principles to support the creation of effective learner journeys and blended learning programmes 
  • ensure all learning materials comply with accessibility, quality assurance, data protection and organisational standards 
  • conduct testing and quality checks on digital learning products before release 
  • collect and analyse learner feedback, completion data and learning analytics to support continuous improvement activities 
  • work with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to review and update existing learning content 
  • maintain accurate records, documentation, version control and project information associated with digital learning activities 
  • participate actively in apprenticeship learning activities and apply new knowledge and skills within the workplace. 

What you'll need

You will need: 

  • an interest in learning, development and digital technologies 
  • good written and verbal communication skills 
  • the ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively 
  • competency in Microsoft 365 application 
  • the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders 
  • attention to detail and commitment to quality. 

Desirable:

  • Experience using learning management systems.  
  • Experience creating digital content, presentations, video or multimedia resources.  
  • Understanding of learning and development principles.  
  • Awareness of accessibility and inclusive design principles.  
  • Experience of project-based work.

Apprentice standard title: Digital learning designer / Skills England 

Apprenticeship Standard Duration - 2 years 

Qualifications

On completion of this apprenticeship, you will hold a Level 5 apprenticeship in Digital Learning Design. 

Additional qualifications achieved include: 

  • Professional Diploma in Digital Learning Design 
  • Level 2 Functional Skills Mathematics 
  • Level 2 Functional Skills English. 

Training provision 

Training will be delivered by the SCCU Group including: 

  • weekly virtual seminars and lectures 
  • summer school in Medway, Kent.
