Are you a self-motivated skilled or semi-skilled operator looking for a new opportunity? Do you enjoy working outdoors? If so, we have a great opening for an Asset Team Chemical Operator to join the team.

What you'll do

You will perform routine planned preventative maintenance on chemical dosing assets.

The role will see you get involved with a variety of different duties, including carrying out repairs, replacements, refurbishments, maintenance, tests and installations of mechanical equipment on chemical systems.

Examples of equipment that you will be working on include chemical dosing rigs, peristaltic and diaphragm pumps, loading valves, temporary dosing units and IBCs.

You will be expected to set up temporary dosing rigs and transfer chemicals between IBCs and tanks, as well as carrying out planned preventive maintenance on all chemical systems with additional reactive maintenance when required.

Training will be provided; however, we are looking for a flexible individual with a can-do attitude who has high personal standards of work quality which meets and exceeds health and safety standards and the customers' needs.

You will be expected to work both alone and as part of the regional team while repairing and maintaining the following assets:

  • waste treatment chemical storage and dosing assets
  • chemical storage tanks
  • feed and delivery pipework
  • dosing pumps.

You will be involved in:

  • calibration and maintenance
  • cleaning replacing components
  • flushing dosing lines
  • installing temporary equipment
  • providing support to our treatment teams
  • routine planned preventative maintenance.

What you'll need

You do not need a background in the water industry. We welcome applications from candidates outside of the sector, who will bring fresh perspectives and ideas.

We are looking for people who demonstrate a positive outlook and behaviours and can work using their own initiative, both unsupervised and within a team environment.

We are looking for problem solvers, and people who are keen to make a positive impact by looking for ways to help us work more efficiently and effectively.

You will need to have a flexible approach, with the ability to react quickly and efficiently to changes on any given day or over the course of the job role.

You will:

  • be comfortable working around sewage
  • be willing to undertake mandatory and upskilling training
  • have awareness and knowledge of IT, health and safety
  • have a can-do attitude and flexible approach to work
  • have a valid full driving licence
  • have basic chemical awareness.

What you'll receive

  • Total pension contributions up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
