Do you want to use your BIM knowledge and engineering experience to drive strategy and innovation in an expanding organisation? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to join the team as a BIM Engineer.

What you'll do

Our Sustainable Operations and Engineering department is a multi-disciplinary design and construct contractor, responsible for the delivery of an annual programme of water treatment, wastewater and network projects across the Wessex Water region. To ensure we maintain our values of safety, quality, time and costs, we have embarked on a programme to deliver a Digital Engineering capability that is the best in the industry. 

Joining this team as a BIM Engineer you will implement BIM technology to assist in the construction design process. You will be playing a key role in developing our BIM capability in a fast-paced, innovative environment. 

Your role will include:

  • delivering digital models and drawings on water and wastewater treatment sites
  • the advanced use of Revit and AutoCAD to create, audit and review designs and third-party information
  • managing Point Cloud and other survey information from third party surveyors
  • liaising with designers, consultants and suppliers to enable project coordination
  • providing input for key design and deliverables
  • inputting into model and drawing procedures
  • managing/updating BIM Project Documents
  • 3D Model Quantity Extraction/Verification.

What you'll need

You will be an experienced engineer with a degree in civil, structural or mechanical engineering, who has technical problem-solving abilities and leadership skills. Qualifications or experience in delivering models, drawings and designs in a BIM environment would also be advantageous.

You will need to be highly organised, detail-oriented, hardworking and have the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You will possess excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all organisational levels.

You will have:

  • experience delivering projects in a BIM environment
  • experience delivering projects using Autodesk products, such as Revit, AutoCAD Navisworks and ReCap or similar Bentley products
  • experience working in a common data environment and managing BIM data throughout a project lifecycle
  • an understanding of key principles on information management as per BS EN ISO 19650
  • experience adopting to design changes and new technologies
  • experience conducting design review and co-ordination meetings
  • knowledge of industry standards including CDM and design risks and the ability to translate to CAD
  • plant 3D experience would be beneficial, but not essential.
