The role requires strong leadership across health, safety and DSEAR activities, including inspections, audits, investigations and statutory compliance, as well as hands‑on involvement in contractor control, technical assurance and regional ATEX support.
As the role develops, there will be scope to take on broader people‑management responsibilities and influence how work is delivered across the site and beyond.
What you'll do

- Ensure asset data is captured and DSEAR dossiers are up to date.
- Drive improvements on maintenance schedules and spares strategies.
- Ensure we follow time‑to‑repair requirements.
- Work alongside engineering, capital delivery and asset lifecycle teams.
- Manage contractor projects from concept to completion and provide technical expertise on ATEX equipment.
- Support both OPEX and CAPEX decisions and feed into future budget planning.
What you'll need
- Strong experience in ATEX and DSEAR compliance within an industrial or process environment.
- Previous hands-on experience as either a Compex 1-4/9&10 or 11 technician.
- Experience working at a (Compex 14) responsible person level in an engineering environment.
- Experience managing contractors and complex safety-critical works.
- Working knowledge of RAMS, method statements, audits, and inspections (SMSTS or other).
- The ability to manage workflows, reactive works and long-term planning.
- Experience working with CMMS systems (eg, Dynamics) and asset data.
- Financial awareness, including CAPEX/OPEX and approval processes.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-team collaboration skills.
- A confident decision-maker with the ability to work autonomously.
- The willingness to support out-of-hours emergency response when required.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
