We're looking for someone to join our Economic Regulation team to help project manage and support the development of our business plans and long-term planning frameworks. Our 2023 submission was our largest ever business plan at £4.5bn, and the next one will be just as substantial.

Interviews for this position are scheduled to take place on 7th August.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Strategic Planning Frameworks Programme Manager, you'll work closely with strategy teams to maintain project plans, track progress and help keep our submissions on course. You'll also develop and maintain stakeholder engagement frameworks, support consistent document management, and work with colleagues across the Regulation team to make sure our planning processes run smoothly.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the wider business and play a meaningful role in shaping and submitting our long-term plans.

Some of the areas you'll be responsible for include:

  • project managing one of the strategic planning frameworks
  • maintaining a clear register of engagement with regulators and stakeholders throughout the business planning and strategic planning framework processes
  • working with teams across the business to make sure customer and stakeholder engagement is effective and consistent
  • supporting customer research activity and helping teams deliver requirements on time
  • helping coordinate business plans and governance groups
  • maintaining internal systems, including SharePoint, to support document management for business plans and strategic planning frameworks
  • developing and maintaining house styles for published documents
  • managing the document production process for strategic submissions
  • leading specific elements of the price review where needed.

What you'll need

We're looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated and comfortable working with a range of people across the business.

You'll be a strong communicator, able to think critically, manage competing priorities and keep projects moving.

We're looking for someone with:

  • knowledge of the water industry regulatory framework, or equivalent regulatory experience
  • project management experience
  • strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Word and SharePoint skills, or the ability to learn these quickly
  • the ability to communicate clearly with different audiences and the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels
  • strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • confidence working independently and as part of a team
  • the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
  • a proactive approach to problem-solving and improving ways of working
  • confidence to challenge existing approaches and explore new ideas
  • a degree-level qualification in an environmental or scientific subject, or equivalent experience, would be helpful.

We know people build skills in different ways, so if you meet most of the criteria and are interested in the role, we'd encourage you to apply.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from trained mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
