Are you a people person with excellent communication skills? If so, and you have a background in the water industry, we have an excellent opportunity for you to work with the most important part of our business – our customers!
This role will see you travelling around Poole and the surrounding areas. Therefore, you will need to hold a valid driving licence – a vehicle will be provided for your travel.
What you'll do
As a Customer Inspector, you will be responsible for reacting to incidents raised by our customer services unit, the wholesale service desk, retailers and our billing department.
Your day will be scheduled via an electronic diary based on an emergency, target date and appointment basis to meet both business and customer expectations. This will involve working closely with the Schedulers to manage your workload efficiently and effectively.
Day to day, you will follow this schedule, which will see you attending customer homes to carry out the initial customer inspector survey, which may include meter installation, private supply pipe issues and job requests. You will raise additional follow-up work as required.
The role will see you interacting daily with customers, including non-household suppliers. Therefore, you must ensure the highest standard of customer service is delivered at all times.
You will also ensure all work is carried out in line with policy, procedure and best practice to maintain the safety of yourself and our customers.
Should customers have an issue with their water supply or a leak, you will see to that customer to ensure the issue is resolved as promptly as possible.
Due to the nature of this role, you will find yourself working alone for a large portion of your day, so it is essential that you follow lone worker processes to ensure safe working at all times.
What you'll need
To be successful, you will have a ‘can-do' attitude, while also being confident, assertive and self-motivated in dealing with all types of queries in a calm, timely and efficient manner.
You will be comfortable liaising with other departments, managers and external parties to gather and resolve customer issues.
With relevant experience in the water industry and NRSWA street works certification, you will have a sound understanding of our:
- new connections process
- water regulations
- customer leak policy
- non-household processes
- wastewater notice process
You will also possess excellent housekeeping skills to ensure you keep your vehicle and uniform clean at all times.
This role will require you to be part of a 24/7 standby rota for attending customer emergencies.
