We are seeking an experienced and motivated Water Main Replacement Design Engineer to deliver water infrastructure renewal and rehabilitation programmes. 

What you'll do 

You will be responsible for the design, planning and technical delivery of water main replacement schemes, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client requirements and regulatory obligations.

Working closely with project managers, construction teams, stakeholders and utility providers, you will develop efficient and innovative design solutions that make a safer and reliable operation of water networks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • developing detailed designs for water main replacement and renewal projects
  • undertaking hydraulic assessments and network analysis to achieve design solutions
  • producing drawings, specifications, calculations and technical reports
  • ensuring designs comply with relevant legislation, standards and client requirements
  • assisting project delivery teams during construction and commissioning processes
  • liaising with clients, local authorities, contractors and other stakeholders
  • identifying and managing technical risks and opportunities throughout the design process
  • assisting with cost estimation, programme development and project planning
  • completing the preparation of design packs for approvals and construction.

What you'll need 

You will have:

  • a degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering or a related discipline
  • experience in water infrastructure design, preferably involving water main replacement or network renewal projects
  • knowledge of water industry standards, regulations and specifications
  • proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant design software
  • experience of hydraulic modelling preferred but not necessary
  • strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • the ability to work unaided and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

It is desirable that you have: 

  • a full UK driving licence desirable.
  • experience working with UK water utilities
  • knowledge of NEC contracts and CDM Regulations
  • experience using CAD, GIS and hydraulic modelling software.
