- ensure business continuity arrangements are fully integrated with emergency planning and are capable of maintaining critical services during disruptions
- build and sustain a competent, confident workforce capable of fulfilling incident management roles effectively through structured training and exercising
- drive measurable improvements in organisational preparedness and resilience by ensuring lessons learned from incidents, exercises, and emerging risks are systematically captured and implemented
- maintain strong, trusted relationships with internal leaders and external partners, ensuring coordinated planning, effective communication and a shared approach to resilience and emergency response.
What you'll need
You will need:

- strong leadership and decision‑making skills, particularly under pressure during incidents
- excellent coordination, facilitation and organisational skills to bring cross‑functional teams together
- highly effective written and verbal communication skills, including briefing senior leaders
- strong influencing and relationship‑building skills with internal stakeholders and external partners
- analytical and problem‑solving ability, with sound judgement in complex or fast‑moving situations
- the ability to develop and maintain high‑quality emergency plans, reports and regulatory submissions
- proven experience in emergency planning, incident response or organisational resilience within utilities or similar sectors
- experience leading or supporting live incident response within Gold–Silver–Bronze structures
- experience designing and delivering training, exercises and debriefs
- a full driving licence and the ability to obtain security clearance.
Experience in the following areas would be beneficial, but is not essential:
- familiarity with water and wastewater operations, risk assessment and business continuity
- awareness of relevant regulations such as the Civil Contingencies Act, SEMD, DWI, EA and Ofwat requirements
- experience working with multi-agency partners, including Local Resilience Forums, emergency services and local authorities
- an emergency planning qualification.
What you'll receive

- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
