We have an exciting opportunity for you to join YTL Construction UK as an Engineering Technician! This role is based in our award-winning YTL offices in Bath, but with great opportunities to work on various sites across our region. 

This role would be suited to someone who is looking to start their career in the civil, geotechnical or structural sector, or a site engineer looking for a change!

What you'll do

Supporting our existing team of engineers and geoscientists, you'll be joining a growing team and will be involved in a variety of office and site-based activities, including:

  • site inspections of existing assets and preparing reports
  • assisting our in-house, in-situ testing team
  • completing basic civil and structural calculations and receiving support with development and training
  • preparation of desk studies, namely, collation and assessment of existing ground and structural information
  • reviewing current and historic maps, and site walkovers
  • analysis of structural and geotechnical data, reviewing borehole/trial pit logs and factual ground investigation reports
  • preparing outline and detailed design drawings.

What you'll need

It is essential that you possess a full UK driving license, as we need someone with the flexibility to work from the office, home and sites across the region. 

You'll also have:

  • civil, structural and geotechnical design knowledge and experience
  • strong IT and communication skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • good analytical skills and strong attention to detail.

It would be beneficial for you to also:

  • have a HND/HNC or equivalent in civil or structural engineering, or be working towards this
  • have civils site or design experience
  • have a diligent and thorough approach to work
  • have a working knowledge of ArcGIS and AutoCAD (advantageous).
