Are you looking for a role that focuses on our local environment? Want to join an award-winning business that offers development opportunities? If so, we want to hear from you!

What you'll do

Our in-house Environment and Planning Services team provides a wide range of services to facilitate project delivery for engineering, construction and operational projects.

Our focus is to ensure legal compliance and environmental best practices are followed and that current legislation and our environmental policy are met in the development and maintenance of assets.

Your role as a Graduate Environment and Planning Adviser is essential to support the delivery of the capital programme.

You will be responsible for producing individual environmental and third-party management plans (E3MP) and environmental constraints maps using ArcGIS and external consultation for each project to concisely and accurately inform engineers of the constraints affecting their projects.

Working with others in the team, you will have the opportunity to assist with project work for larger and more complex projects to secure consents to meet project deadlines.

You will also provide environmental information and guidance to engineering and construction colleagues in response to requests for general assistance and advice at all stages of the project, ensuring we maintain legal compliance.

The role provides development opportunities, including a pathway to obtaining professional membership to an environmental institution.

What you'll need

In addition, you will have:

  • a degree in an environment-related subject
  • excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • good organisational skills
  • good IT skills
  • a full UK driving licence.

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • basic knowledge of UK Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes and legislation
  • approximately one year of similar project experience, but new graduates with relevant backgrounds will also be considered
  • GIS experience.

What you'll receive

  • Total pension contributions up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary.
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
