Do you have a degree in an engineering or scientific subject? Are you a graduate looking to take the next step in your career within the water industry? Are you a problem solver? If so, we have a great opportunity for you in our Process Design department as a Graduate Process Engineer.

What you'll do

As a Graduate Process Engineer, you will work predominantly in wastewater treatment, providing technical advice, design information, and guidance to the various delivery teams of the capital programme.

Depending on your experience, you will be responsible for:

  • providing a high level of process and technical knowledge in all aspects of wastewater treatment
  • undertaking and delivering specific investigations and appraisals, identifying best value engineering solutions that take into account whole-life costs and carbon emissions
  • identifying and explaining a range of process options to meet a required output
  • providing innovative solutions within the confines of cost-incentivised workstreams
  • reviewing, auditing and approval of all technical reports, appraisals, designs and drawings to ensure that all comply with our health and safety, technical, legal and environmental standards
  • providing detailed process engineering input into the project function from optioneering through to commissioning
  • attending design review meetings to explain designs and respond appropriately to any challenges confidently
  • challenging and identifying changes to our design standards, specifications and standard drawings
  • providing training, mentoring, support and guidance to the engineering and construction technical staff
  • operating and evaluating an innovative treatment plant.

What you'll need

You will have:

  • great problem-solving and analytical skills
  • good verbal and written communication skills
  • experience in delivering results through cross-functional working
  • a degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
  • a master's degree in a process-related area (preferable but not essential)
  • chartered professional status of an appropriate institution, or be progressing towards achieving it
  • relevant process design experience for engineer level entry (relevant operational experience would be acceptable)
  • a full UK driving licence.
