If you're passionate about people and want to help shape business growth, this is your opportunity. As the single onsite HR contact, you'll deliver pragmatic, commercially focused advice, empower managers, and help create a culture where people thrive.

Fully embedded in the Turnbull Infrastructure and Utilities team, you'll influence key decisions, support strategic projects, and attend regular leadership meetings during an exciting period of growth. While this is a standalone role onsite at Hinkley Point C (HPC), you'll have the backing of an experienced HR Business Partner and a collaborative People team to help you succeed.

Please note that this is a fixed term maternity cover contract opportunity starting from mid-March 2026. This role requires the successful applicant to travel to the HPC site 3 days a week, as well as to our sites in Bridgwater, Bath and Nailsea regularly.

As this role is based on a Nuclear New Build, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a full BPSS Security Clearance. This is part of the standard vetting procedures for all HPC embedded employees.

What you'll do

As an experienced HR Adviser, you'll be at the heart of shaping how our people thrive and how our business grows. This isn't just about HR processes – it's about making a real impact.

In this role, you will:

  • help leaders lead - from creating practical nudges to delivering workshops, you'll upskill managers so they can build high-performing teams
  • spot opportunities, anticipate challenges, and keep your finger on the pulse of what's happening on-site
  • deliver credible, commercial advice by partnering with the business to provide pragmatic, legally sound guidance that drives results
  • provide expert HR guidance to managers on employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes
  • support the business to create an exceptional employee experience by designing and implementing HR initiatives that boost engagement, performance, and career growth
  • support strategic delivery and align people initiatives with business goals, ensuring we have the right talent in the right place at the right time
  • lead HR projects from pay reviews to organisational change
  • help deliver initiatives that enable growth and improve ways of working
  • champion leadership development and collaborate on programs that build leadership capability and foster a culture of continuous learning
  • manage visa sponsorship processes, support policy development, and ensure we stay ahead in a fast-moving market
  • use HR metrics to spot trends, solve problems, and inform decision-making.

In addition, you will deputise for the HRBP on her two non-working days, acting as the first point of contact for anything people-related and escalating as required.

What you'll need

We're not looking for a one-size-fits-all background - what matters is your ability to make an impact. If you can bring the right HR experience and a forward-thinking, people-first approach, we want to hear from you.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • solid experience in a generalist HR role, providing pragmatic, customer-focused advice that delivers measurable outcomes
  • strong employment law knowledge, confident in applying legislation in a practical, commercial way to reduce risk
  • manager coaching skills with the ability to guide and influence managers through HR processes and policies
  • experience with change management, hands-on involvement in people initiatives and organisational change
  • practical knowledge of working with trade unions and navigating multiple terms and conditions
  • familiarity with HR systems, digitally literate, and be curious about how data and AI can improve HR
  • commercial awareness, being able to understand the bigger picture and how HR can help drive business success
  • strong communication skills, a natural ability to engage, influence, and build relationships at all levels
  • a logical, investigative approach to challenges - always looking for solutions
  • a self-starter attitude who thrives on autonomy, takes ownership, and gets things done
  • a continuous learner mentality, curious, progressive, and committed to improving yourself and others.

If you're someone who's “on it,” loves making things happen, and wants to be part of a team that values fresh ideas and real results, this is the role for you.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
