We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, confident and motivated individual to join our Smart Waters team as a Water Quality Monitoring Technician.
What you'll do
You'll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration and fault diagnosis of water quality monitoring equipment across the Wessex Water region.
The role will involve a combination of planned preventative maintenance and reactive work, responding to equipment faults and operational issues as they arise.
You'll work closely with the Maintenance Manager, ensuring that all monitoring equipment operates reliably, complies with regulatory standards and delivers accurate, high quality data to support operational performance and environmental compliance.
You'll also:
- carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on water quality monitoring instrumentation
- ensure all instruments are calibrated, verified, and maintained in line with manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements
- clean and service monitoring instruments and associated equipment to maintain performance and data integrity
- diagnose faults and undertake troubleshooting activities to minimise downtime and data loss
- accurately record maintenance activities, calibration results, and faults using relevant systems and documentation
- support compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures while working on operational sites.
What you'll need
- Previous experience within the water industry, or an understanding of instrumentation, is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.
- A flexible approach to work, with a strong team working ethos, while also being confident and effective when working independently.
- Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to remain effective when dealing with changing priorities, challenging environments or reactive workloads.
- Well organised, with strong time management skills and the ability to plan and prioritise work effectively.
- Able to work accurately and methodically, with good attention to detail.
- Proactive and self-motivated, taking ownership of tasks and following them through to completion.
- Committed to maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism at all times.
To be considered for this role, you must hold a valid UK driving licence, as there will be regular travel around various sites within our region.
A company van and all the tools and training you will need to complete your role will be provided.
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
