Looking for more than just a technical office role? Want to use your construction, technical and customer service talents in a more interesting environment? If so, we might have just what you're looking for.

Our work is a key part of ensuring new developments are built to the right standards and on time, and we're renowned for delivering a professional, high-quality service, providing accurate and timely advice.

What you'll do

Joining our Developer Services team, you will:

  • liaise with housing developers as a central point of contact for drainage and water supply issues on all aspects of new development
  • interact with local councils, the public and other external stakeholders
  • work within our Development Engineering team, which covers the northern and western areas of our region
  • primarily be involved with inspecting constructed works and reviewing surveys to ensure that any changes to our existing systems are constructed in accordance with industry standards
  • be involved in processing existing applications as well as giving developers advice and guidance on constructed works.

What you'll need

You will be joining a busy team, where we support one another and work closely to make sure our customers are satisfied.

Therefore, you will need to be able to stay organised and effective under pressure, prioritising workloads to meet our high standards of service.

You will also:

  • need an understanding of drainage design, operation and construction practices
  • have experience testing and inspecting works on active building sites, although we don't need you to be a qualified site engineer
  • visit customers and sites, so you must have customer service experience and the ability to deal with a wide range of customers efficiently and professionally
  • assess development submissions and provide guidance by telephone, letter and e-mail, so you must have good written and verbal communication skills and be computer literate.

Due to the nature of this role and the requirement to travel to and from sites, it is essential that you hold a valid driving licence.

What you'll receive

  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from trained mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
