Are you a creative, personable and enthusiastic UWE undergraduate looking to complete a 12‑week summer placement in marketing, PR and communications?
Would you like hands‑on experience working on one of the most exciting regeneration projects in the South West? If so, this opportunity could be for you.
YTL Developments is looking for a motivated UWE undergraduate student to join our team working on Brabazon – a once‑in‑a‑generation development transforming the former Filton Airfield into a thriving new neighbourhood for Bristol.
Over the next 20+ years, Brabazon will deliver more than 6,500 new homes, creative workplaces and a vibrant town centre, alongside extensive public spaces and new transport infrastructure, including a new railway station, Metrobus connectivity and dedicated cycleways.
This 12‑week paid summer placement offers a unique opportunity to gain real‑world experience across marketing, PR and communications while working as part of a supportive and experienced team, with the potential to progress into a graduate role for the right candidate.
For the right candidate, there may be the opportunity to progress into a graduate‑level role with YTL Developments at the end of the placement, subject to performance, business requirements and role availability.
We are keen to support early‑career talent and this placement offers the chance to build strong foundations, gain exposure to a wide range of marketing disciplines, and develop skills that could form the start of a longer‑term career with YTL UK.
What you'll do
As Marketing and Communications Placement Student, you will support the development and delivery of marketing, brand and communications activity for Brabazon.
You will work within the YTL Developments marketing team – alongside the Head of Marketing and Communications, Commercial and Destination Marketing Manager, Digital Marketing Manager, PR and Communications Manager and Marketing Executives – gaining exposure to a wide range of campaigns and channels.
Your work will support residential house sales, commercial office leasing, student accommodation bookings and the launch of new venues and ventures at Brabazon. You will be involved in both day‑to‑day marketing tasks and longer‑term project work, allowing you to build practical skills throughout your placement.
Key responsibilities will include:
- researching and writing copy for a range of online and offline channels, adapting tone of voice for both B2B and B2C audiences
- capturing content and drafting blog, website and social media posts
- creating marketing assets and collateral to support campaigns and launches
- supporting the creation of press releases, award entries, surveys and testimonials, and assisting with the collation of media materials
- assisting with media enquiries and stakeholder communications, under the guidance of the PR and Communications Manager
- creating and updating website content using our CMS (Umbraco), and helping to monitor and report on performance using analytics tools such as Google Suite, SEMrush and Microsoft Clarity
- supporting email marketing and CRM activity to help maintain an engaged and accurate customer database
- helping to distribute content across digital and social channels to maximise reach and engagement
- supporting the planning and delivery of photoshoots, events and on‑site activity where required
- assisting with budget tracking, meeting coordination, and keeping project management and workflow tools up to date
- gathering, analysing and interpreting marketing data to support reporting, audience insight and campaign evaluation
- working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to support the delivery of marketing and communications activity on time and to a high standard.
This role is designed to be hands‑on and developmental, with support and guidance provided throughout the placement.
What you'll need
- You must be currently studying towards an undergraduate degree in marketing, PR/communications, design or a related creative discipline at UWE.
- Availability to commit to a 12‑week summer placement.
- Some previous work, office or placement experience is desirable but not essential.

- Competent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and Canva. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is a bonus but not essential.
- An interest in digital marketing, content creation and learning how marketing performance is measured.

- Career progression and professional development opportunities
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers
