Do you have a background in open data? Can you help to ensure we are at the forefront of the wider sector? If so, we are looking for an Open Data Manager to join the team!

What you'll do 

You will lead the development of our in-house open data capabilities and hold leadership responsibilities for ensuring we refine and deliver our open data strategy, reporting to the Head of Performance and Information Management. 

You will:  

  • work with internal stakeholders to manage the provision of data and information from a range of data sources and the central information hub
  • work closely with external stakeholders to achieve the aims of the Stream Industry group and associated initiatives, using this information to contribute to the development of the water industry open data roadmap, including the provision of our own open data
  • represent the company at internal and external events, ensuring we are at the forefront of the industry and exceed customer expectations
  • be responsible for ensuring the data being published follows correct processes and is of suitable quality, including the provision of data to Stream
  • work with Data Owners and Data Stewards to refine and enhance processes to ensure best practice
  • work as part of the Performance and Information Management team to continue improving the governance of the organisation's data. 

What you'll need 

In this role, you will need: 

  • excellent leadership skills 
  • the ability to articulate open data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, as well as senior executive team members
  • interpersonal skills to positively contribute and influence the industry direction of travel
  • a technical understanding of where open data sits in the information management framework and how it can play its part in the delivery of our wider vision
  • the ability to support other initiatives such as data governance, data quality, data architecture, master data management, and data analytics
  • to work across the organisation to influence and drive open data practices, delivering for Wessex Water and wider stakeholders, such as customers, the environment and regulators.
