This position presents a great opportunity to gain experience in communicating effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders while learning and applying the various elements of public water supply, wastewater systems and planning regulation in a wide range of differing scenarios.
What you'll do
The Planning Liaison team sits within the Developer Services department and deals with all types of new development, including housing, commercial and retail.
It is a central point of contact for developers, councils, and the public regarding new development.
As Planning Liaison Technical Coordinator, you will:
- triage planning liaison and network capacity enquiries from members of the public, developers and local planning authorities relating to water supply and sewerage matters
- administer and circulate planning applications and developer enquiries for comment by other technical specialists within the business
- provide technical responses relating to water supply and sewerage matters to developers and local planning authorities for minor schemes (10 dwellings or less)
- provide support to the Planning Liaison Manager on new development proposals, planning policy, strategic development plans and population projections for other parts of the business.
What you'll need
We are looking for a good communicator who can work using their own initiative, prioritise enquiries and formulate well-written responses.
In addition, we are looking for:
- willing to learn diverse technical skills
- an interest in the UK Planning system and the development of communities
- an interest in the operation of drainage and water supply networks
- good geographic skills and emerging knowledge of GIS systems and databases.
