Would you enjoy working as part of a hands-on multidisciplinary Project Delivery team? If so, we have an interesting opportunity to join our DSL replacement programme team based in Bridgwater.

What you'll do

As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of our DSL replacement programme. You will be responsible for the migration of DSL control and SOHO routers and will work in close collaboration with both the Operational Technology department and IT department.
This will include managing external contractors to install new power sockets and SOGEA lines, the physical migration of the routers, and managing health and safety in the process. There are roughly 250 sites to complete, which are located across our region.

As our Project Engineer, your role will involve:

  • Survey of the sites, identifying any health & safety or process issues, and producing a succinct delivery plan for the router migration
  • Managing external contractors, including raising orders and contracts, planning and supervising site visits
  • Configuration and physical migration of the site routers
  • Reviewing H&S documentation provided by contractors
  • Providing H&S documentation for your own works
  • Ensuring that all health and safety and other statutory regulations that may affect the process are adhered to
  • Managing your own time to ensure project deadlines are met
  • Ensuring the delivery process is in line with our policies

What you'll need

Ideally, you will be from a telecommunications background and/or water industry background with experience in field work, H&S management and working closely with external contractors.
It is essential you have a safety-first approach and good negotiation and influencing skills.

In addition, you will need:

  • a positive and "can-do" attitude
  • to be well-organised, customer-focused and a great team player
  • hold a Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate, or be willing to undergo the training
  • previous experience in electrical installation works
  • working knowledge of CDM 2015
  • a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work
  • previous experience in telecommunications / automation would be preferred.

What you'll receive

  • Total pension contributions up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to buy up to 10 days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary.
