Are you a motivated leader with a passion for safety, customer service, and operational excellence? 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Water Supply Repairs & Maintenance Supervisor to lead our frontline teams in delivering a safe, reliable, and responsive 24-hour water supply service.

You will play a key role in ensuring repairs, maintenance, and new installations are completed efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, performance, and customer satisfaction. 

What you'll do

Working within our SQTC (Safety, Quality, Time and Cost) ethos, you will lead, support, and direct operational teams, ensuring the right people, equipment, and resources are in place to deliver outstanding results.

You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate asset information, managing and controlling costs, while driving continuous improvement across the operation. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Championing a strong health, safety, and environmental culture through visible leadership, team briefings, training, and toolbox talks. 
  • Leading and motivating teams to deliver exceptional performance while upholding company values, policies, and customer commitments. 
  • Managing resources, budgets, and productivity to achieve operational targets and maximise team performance in line with our Safety, Quality, Time, and Cost ethos. 
  • Identifying training and development needs, ensuring all mandatory training and records remain current and in date. 
  • Providing effective field-based leadership through regular site visits, coaching, and performance monitoring. 
  • Driving high standards of quality and efficiency, reducing repeat work, defects, and operational waste. 
  • Conducting performance reviews, appraisals, and development planning to support individual and team growth. 
  • Creating opportunities for career development and building future capability within the workforce. 
  • Managing team availability and resource planning, including holiday and sickness cover, to maintain service delivery. 
  • Building positive customer relationships, resolving incidents professionally, and minimising disruption to customers. 
  • Ensuring emergency response arrangements are maintained through effective management of people, equipment, and materials. 
  • Participating in the standby rota to support operational resilience and response. 
  • Working closely with schedulers and operational teams to manage risk, improve efficiency, and optimise work delivery. 
  • Undertaking safety and environmental team audits to promote continuous ownership, improvement and compliance. 
  • Providing leadership support and deputising for the Supply Area Controller when required.

What you'll need

You will need relevant Utility Repair and Maintenance experience, ideally a minimum of five years is preferred.  

  • SMSTS or SSSTS  
  • NRSWA section S1 monitoring, signing, lighting and guarding  
  • A full UK driving licence  
  • A working understanding of CDM 
  • A strong motivational and inspirational approach, leading by example 
  • Basic Computer literacy 
  • A desire to learn 
  • Innovation and the ability to develop ideas to improve performance and influence senior managers  
  • The ability to plan, time-manage and organise yourself self and others  
  • Strong leadership and team development skills 
  • A passion for customer service and quality  
  • A systems thinking approach
