Do you like working outdoors? Are you currently working in the construction industry as an Operative looking to gain leadership experience, or already an experienced team leader in the wastewater industry? If so, we have a great opportunity to join our Sewerage Network team as a Sewer Rehabilitation Team Leader!
You will work across the whole Wessex Water region, with the main depots being based in Avonmouth, Wellington and Kinson. In addition to your salary, you will benefit from a monthly bonus on the completion of your probationary period and access to a company vehicle, laptop and phone.
Your role will see you travel across the region, which may include Bristol, Chippenham, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Bridport, Taunton and everything in between.
What you'll do
You'll be at the heart of keeping our wastewater network safe, reliable and future‑ready for the 2.8 million customers who rely on us every day. As a Sewer Rehabilitation Team Leader, you'll take ownership of delivering high‑quality trenchless repairs and lining works across our network while leading, developing and motivating a team.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- carrying out planned and reactive repairs on the wastewater network using trenchless techniques such as sewer lining
- leading by example on site, ensuring safe working practices and high-quality workmanship
- working outdoors in all conditions, solving problems on the ground, and delivering a vital service to customers
- carrying out CCTV surveys, diagnosing defects and preparing sites for lining works inc site setups, traffic management and over-pumping
- ensuring all work meets safety, environmental and quality standards, leading by example on site
- coaching, mentoring and guiding Operatives, helping them grow their skills and confidence
- Coordinate daily tasks, materials, equipment and site readiness to keep jobs running smoothly
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers, landowners and other stakeholders
- This is a role where your decisions matter, your expertise is valued, and your leadership directly improves the service our customers receive.
What you'll need
We're looking for someone who brings a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and pride in doing a job well. You'll be organised, safety‑conscious, customer‑focused, and confident working as part of a team.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience in a practical, hands‑on outdoor role.
- Knowledge and/or experience of:
- Sewer and drainage systems
- CIPP (cured-in-place pipe) lining
- CIPR repairs
- Lateral cutting
- CCTV inspection
- High‑pressure water jetting
- Streetworks requirements
If you've led small teams before, great — but if you're an experienced Operative ready to step up, we'd love to hear from you too.
You must have:
- A valid UK driving licence with proven towing experience
- The ability to pass a confined space entry medical
What you'll receive
- A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
