There is an exciting opportunity to join our Sewerage Pumping Station (SPS) team as SPS Manager.

This role is responsible for leading the north SPS operational team, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our sewerage pumping station assets whilst delivering excellent performance for our customers, communities and the environment.

You will play a key role in maintaining compliance, driving operational improvements, supporting investment programmes and developing a high-performing team capable of delivering exceptional standards across the region. 

What you'll do

As the SPS Manager, you will:

  • lead, develop and support a team of SPS Operators and technicians
  • ensure the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing for employees and contractors
  • manage team performance, training, succession planning and personal development
  • drive compliance across operational, environmental and regulatory requirements
  • manage the SPS maintenance programme, workbank performance and asset reliability
  • lead responses to operational incidents, service failures and pollution prevention initiatives
  • work closely with the Control Room, Network teams, Optimisation Engineers and Capital Delivery teams
  • manage regional budgets and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • support capital schemes through design reviews, technical approvals, commissioning and project sign-off
  • promote continuous improvement through the use of data, asset performance reviews and operational innovation
  • ensure effective management of telemetry alarms, customer contacts, lone working compliance and site standards
  • communicate incidents, operational risks, performance issues and business priorities effectively across the wider organisation
  • support the delivery of company objectives relating to customer service, environmental performance, asset health and operational resilience.

What you'll need

We're looking for someone who combines strong leadership skills with extensive operational knowledge.

You will ideally have:

  • proven experience leading operational teams
  • extensive knowledge of sewerage pumping stations, pumps, control systems and associated equipment
  • a strong understanding of operational risk, environmental compliance and incident management
  • experience managing maintenance programmes and driving operational performance
  • electrical and/or Mechanical qualifications, ideally NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • a recognised management qualification, ideally ILM Level 3 or above, or a willingness to work towards one
  • sound knowledge of COSHH, DSEAR and health and safety requirements
  • excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • strong IT skills and experience using operational systems, telemetry and asset management tools
  • the ability to make effective decisions in a fast-paced operational environment
  • a proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
  • a full UK driving licence.
