Do you thrive in a high-pressure environment? Are you a team player with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills? If so, we have an excellent opportunity for you to join the team as a Permit Task Controller!
What you'll do
You will be responsible for the assessment and administration of both planned and urgent requests for Repair and Maintenance (R&M), national condition text and complex traffic management requests (multi-way and road closures).
You will process high volumes of Standard Permit Requests, while also providing advice and guidance to all departments to ensure compliance and accuracy to avoid fixed penalty notices and reduce costs where possible.
As part of this role, you will liaise closely with highway authorities, dealing with permit modification requests, authority-imposed variations, and permit refusals and grants, as well as providing and receiving updates throughout the works.
You will also produce and distribute various reports to all departments to ensure permits are managed in line with legislative requirements. This will include identifying and reporting on permit infringements to help shape new business processes and highlight areas for improvement.
Please note that you will be required to cover other areas where required (both Task Controller and Permit Coordinator roles).
Your working pattern will be Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 5pm, working from home on Monday and Friday. This is a fixed-term role to cover maternity leave.
What you'll need
We are looking for a team player who has a flexible approach to work and is willing to take on additional duties as the team requires.
You will be working in a high-pressure environment, and it is critical you can multi-task to meet strict deadlines on time.
You will also have excellent organisational and communication skills and be confident delivering ideas across all levels of the business.
In addition, it would be desirable if you have the following:
- knowledge or some understanding of Streetworks legislation
- knowledge or experience in a planning-type role within the utility sector.
What you'll receive
- Total pension contributions up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary.
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
