What you'll do  

Based at either our Bath (Claverton Down) or Trowbridge (Kennet Way) office, your role will be varied as you will undertake the creation, maintenance, support and documentation of wastewater and water supply assets on the corporate GIS database, using ESRI Arc GIS.  

This will include editing records in the system which will see you spending significant time focusing on the screen while maintaining attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. 

Whilst performing an edit update, you will need to digitise and enter tabular information, as well as undertake topological and visual checks for completeness. Records sources will include as-laid drawings, asset surveys and field-based sketches on maps.  

Daily tasks will include editing our live GIS networks using data ranging from field data to engineering drawings.

You will liaise with other staff, as required, to ensure data captured is of the required accuracy and quality. On occasion, you may also have to provide hard copy maps and reports to the business.  

During your six-month probation, you will be expected to be office-based full-time, after which flexible working options are available up to a maximum of two days per week at home. 

Please be aware that there will be little or no requirement to work with Python or SQL. 

What you'll need  

We are looking for a highly organised individual who has excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 

You will be self-motivated, use your own initiative and successfully work under moderate supervision, as well as communicate confidently with other team members and colleagues throughout the company.  

Experience in the following would be beneficial however full training will be given:   

• experience using Microsoft Excel
• good spatial awareness   
• experience using ESRI ArcGIS software.
