Are you a logical thinker with a keen eye for detail? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join YTL Construction UK, working on a variety of projects where you can develop and learn new skills on the job as a Trainee Planner!
What you'll do
As a Trainee Planner, you will be travelling across the South West region which covers Bristol, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Bridgwater and everything in between, initially shadowing an experienced Planner while completing the Trainee Planner programme.
Reporting to a Lead Planner, you will join a growing team helping to deliver a variety of water supply, sewerage networks and treatment projects, working closely with project managers, designers and support teams. The planning role allows you to see projects through from concept to completion giving you a broad understanding of project delivery and programme management.
As you progress you will take on responsibility for planning projects and building up to a full programme portfolio within one of our delivery teams.
You will need to liaise with the project management team, designers and contractors, while also maintaining accurate programmes using a variety of software systems including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, BIM 360 & Excel.
You will also have the opportunity to work with construction teams developing construction programmes so experience using Microsoft Project software would be an advantage but not essential.
What you'll need
This role will give you plenty of development and on-the-job training, therefore it is essential you are confident, driven, and self-motivated with a can-do attitude.
You will be educated to degree or a post A-Level qualification level within a relevant discipline and have an interest in construction, in particular water supply, wastewater treatment and mechanical and electrical projects.
You will be flexible in your approach, willing to challenge convention and contribute to the successful delivery of services. This is a varied role, and you will deal with a range of teams across the business.
Due to the remote nature of the role, you will be required to hold a valid driving licence and have access to your own vehicle. Expenses will be reimbursed.
What you'll receive
- Total pension contributions up to 20%.
- Career progression and professional development opportunities.
- 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
- The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
- A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
- Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
- A new electric car in exchange for part of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
- Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
- One paid volunteering day each year.
- Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
- An interactive health and wellbeing platform.
- Support from mental health first aiders.
- A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone to work for us.
Who we are
YTL Construction UK is a new company that will be part of the international YTL Group. The Group, which is based in Malaysia, has a very large building and construction arm within Asia, including housing, roads, rail, commercial buildings, hotels, performing arts venues and cement manufacturing.
YTL has been active in the UK for over 20 years with ownership of Wessex Water, waste to energy, retail and commercial projects and a number of hotels.
YTL Construction UK will be responsible for the construction of a new entertainment complex at the iconic Brabazon hangars, north of Bristol, including exhibition and conferencing space.
The site is also the location for the Brabazon new town with hotels, schools, commercial developments and planning permission for 6,500 housing units. Over time, the new company will also develop wider construction projects, particularly focused on key infrastructure.
With the rapid development of the Brabazon Estate at Filton Bristol, this is an excellent opportunity to join what will, in a few years, become one of the major companies in the UK construction industry.
