Engineering Technician

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician to join YTL Construction UK (Infrastructure). You will be based in our award-winning YTL offices in Bath but will be expected to work on various sites across our region. 

This role would be suited to someone who is looking to start their career in the civil or structural sector.

What you'll do

You'll be joining a busy, growing team and would be immediately involved in a variety of office and site-based activities, including:

• site inspections of existing assets
• assisting our in-house in-situ testing team
• preparing asset condition reports
• completing basic civil and structural calculations and receiving support with development and training, completing structural and geotechnical models
• preparation of desk studies, namely collation and assessment of existing ground information
• reviewing current and historic maps, site walkovers, identification of ground hazards, geoenvironmental considerations and ground investigation design, in accordance with industry standards
• analysis of structural and geotechnical data, reviewing borehole/trial pit logs and factual ground investigation reports
• preparing outline and detailed design drawings
• completing site supervision of dewatering tests.

What you'll need

• HND/HNC or equivalent in civil or structural engineering. 
• A full UK driving license.
• Flexibility to work from the office, home, sites and occasionally other offices.
• A permanent right to work in the UK.
• Strong IT and communication skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• A diligent and thorough approach to work.
• A working knowledge of ArcGIS and AutoCAD (advantageous).
