Join our in-house team of experienced solicitors working across a variety of areas, including commercial, environmental and property law.
A current practising certificate is a requirement however cost of annual renewal would be covered by the company.
What you'll do
In this varied and exciting role, you will provide specialist legal advice and support on all aspects of employment law across the Group.
You will report to the Group Legal Services Director but will also work directly with the Group People team as a trusted adviser to the Group Director of People, as well as the various HR Business Partners.
You will also:
- assist and support the Group Legal Services Director on all employment law-related matters
- provide employment law/case law updates
- input into policy, handbook and procedure reviews
- deliver training to the People team and business
- work with the Head of HR Business Partnering to shape the Group's ER strategy
- support organisational change projects, eg, TUPE and redundancy
- draft legal documentation on behalf of the Group
- advise on company exposure to liabilities and risk in contracts and claims
- provide professional and practical employment law advice to internal clients, including directors, managers and members of the board
- draft advice and other documentation, including settlement agreements
- assist internal clients with HR processes and procedures and conduct tribunal proceedings.
What you'll need
In this exciting and varied role, we are looking for a commercially minded, qualified solicitor with post-qualification experience.
You will:
- be an employment law specialist with experience gained from a private practice and/or an in-house role
- have experience dealing with contentious and non-contentious employment law matters
- possess good knowledge and understanding of tribunal procedures and protocols, and have a high level of knowledge and understanding of employment law.
- have strong drafting and negotiating skills and good commercial acumen
- be able to work as part of a team, under pressure, to strict timescales and with minimum supervision, all while demonstrating initiative
- have excellent communication skills and a methodical and organised approach
- be self-confident and able to balance conflicting priorities
- respond positively to change and enjoy working in a challenging environment.
